Health Programs for Everyone
The Aging and Disability Resource Center offers a variety of evidence-based health promotion programs for Adams, Green Lake, Marquette, and Waushara Counties. These programs can give the tools needed towards preventative health. By engaging in or more of these programs, individuals will learn different ways to exercise and relax, build self-management skills, participate in medication education and much more. All of the programs offered do not have a fee, but donations towards the programs are appreciated. Below is a list of the current programs offered throughout the year.

Stepping On is a fun and interactive, 7-week community-based program that focuses on strength and balancing exercises, medication education, home safety, footwear, vision and mobility in the community. The program meets once a week for 2 hours, and includes visits by local professionals such as a Physical Therapist, Pharmacist, Community Safety Officer, or a Vision Specialist. The program offers an opportunity to meet people within your community and learn together about ways to prevent falls.

Healthy Living With Diabetes is a 6-week workshop designed to help adults with Type 2 diabetes or pre-diabetes learn self-management skills and increase confidence in managing diabetes. The program meets once a week for 2 1/2 hours each. Some of the topics includes foot care, eating healthy, exercise, how to prevent high/low blood sugar levels, and setting goals.

Living Well with Chronic Health Conditions is a 6-week program that helps people who have health conditions learn how to take control of their lives through action plans, relaxation, communication and other self-management tools. Chronic conditions discussed include depression, diabetes, arthritis, heart conditions, hip or knee replacements and much more. The program meets once a week for 2 1/2 hours each.

Tai Chi combines a type of meditative relaxation with flowing movements, which results in benefits to both the power of the body and the mind. While tai chi attracts people of all ages, tai chi is a low impact exercise and can be especially beneficial to those who have arthritis, chronic pain, or have difficulties with balance. Benefits include: * Improve cardiovascular health * Lower blood pressure * Improve balance, flexibility, and range of motion * Reduces pain and stiff joints * Maintain healthy bone density level * Relieve stress and anxiety * Improve coordination
