Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Group: There is a caregiver support group specifically designed for those who care for a person with Alzheimer’s or dementia. The group is facilitated by two volunteers who are experienced in caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s. Both volunteers have successfully completed training offered by the Alzheimer’s Association. The group meets on the third Monday of each month at 1pm at the Wautoma Public Library, 410 W Main St, Wautoma, WI.
Individual Counseling:
Individual counseling is available. For more information or to make an appointment, contact the Caregiver Facilitator at Waushara County Department of Aging, (920) 787-0403 or (877) 364-5344 toll-free.
Care Trak:
The purpose of Care Trak is to monitor and locate individuals with dementia who wander from their homes. Care Trak will provide relief to the families and caregivers from the constant fear of not being able to quickly locate their loved ones should they wander from their homes. This will be done by distributing electronic bracelets to clients with a history or potential of wandering. Each designated client will be assigned a unique frequency and may be tracked and located by the use of receivers tuned to the appropriate frequency. This project will track only individuals in Waushara County at this time. Criteria for participation: 1) having someone available to check the transmitter daily with the tester; and 2) having someone living with the individual who would contact 911 if and when the person with dementia should wander. For more information, call the Aging & Disability Resource Center toll-free at (877) 883-5378.
