Posted Date:

It's Lottery Credit week, do you have a Lottery Credit on your primary residence?

It’s Lottery Credit Week - May 13th – 17th

The Waushara County Treasurer’s office is designating the week of May 13th-17th to help all eligible real property owners receive the lottery credit. If the property owner did not receive the credit on the 2018 tax bill, and meets the eligibility requirements, the Treasurer’s office will assist you in completing the necessary paperwork and filing the forms with the Department of Revenue to receive the late lottery credit and ensure that the credit is applied to the 2019 tax bill.

To verify if you received the lottery credit please review your 2018 tax bill or visit the Waushara County Website to access your tax bill and determine whether or not you received the lottery credit. If you did not receive the credit and you qualify to receive it, you may contact the Treasurer’s office at 920-787-0445.

To qualify for the lottery and gaming credit, an owner must be a Wisconsin resident, the owner of the dwelling, and use the dwelling as their primary residence on January 1 of the year in which property taxes are levied.  Principal dwelling means any dwelling used by the owner of the dwelling as his/her primary residence. A property owner may claim only one primary residence. The lottery and gaming credit cannot be claimed on business property, rental units, vacant land, garages, or other property that is not the primary residence of the owner.

Last year the average lottery credit in Waushara County was approximately $145.56.  The exact amount is based upon the school district in which your home is located.

If you were not a resident of your property on January 1 of 2018 but were as of January 1, 2019 you may qualify for the credit on your 2019 tax bill.  You should complete the 2019 application to receive that credit.  The application can be obtained on the county’s website by clicking on Treasurer’s Lottery & Gaming Credit Application or at the Waushara County Treasurer’s office in the Courthouse.

The lottery credit can only be obtained by having a signed application on file.  Please contact the county Treasurer’s office for any questions at 920-787-0445.
