FOOT CARE CLINIC
By Appointment only........920-787-6590

1. Bathe your feet daily in lukewarm (not hot), soapy water and rinse gently, with a soft towel, pat (don't rub) your feet dry, especially between the toes.

2. Wear clean socks-change them daily and discard when they have holes.

3. Wear shoes that fit well-snug, but not tight. To help assure dryness, change to a different pair each day. Keep your shoes in good repair.

4. Break in new shoes gradually-wear them just a few hours each day.

5. Keep your toenails trimmed neatly, straight across and even with the toes. File sharp edges with emery board-be sure not to dig under the toenail or around the cuticle.

6. Do not attempt to trim your own corns or callus or use commercial corn remedies.

7. Wear shoes or slippers around the house or at the beach-bare feet invite injury.

8. Avoid extremes of cold or heat-if your feet are cold, wear warm socks. Never use hot water bottles or heating pads. Protect your feet from sunburn.

9. Avoid wearing anything tight around your legs or ankles that might in any way reduce the blood supply to your feet.

10. Avoid smoking-this reduces circulation in your feet.

11. For dry, flaky skin, apply emollients such as Vaseline, Crisco or Nivea.

12. For very dry skin try lubricating you feet at night. Use a generous amount of Crisco, Vaseline or Nivea and wear white socks over your feet to bed. (Use the same socks at night all week).

13. To remove simple calluses or corns try the following method-DO NOT TRY THIS IF YOU ARE A DIABETIC OR HAVE POOR CIRCULATION OR OPEN SORES:
   A. Prepare a solution of 1 gallon water to 2 tablespoons of Soilax or Spic and Span. (Soilax and Spic an Span will dissolve dead protein that calluses are made of).
   B. Soak feet in above solution for 30 minutes.
   C. Rub calluses or corns with a rough towel.
   D. Apply emollient.

FOOT EXERCISES

1. General stimulation: WALKING

2. For weak arches and calf muscles:
   A. Secure both hands to back of chair.
   B. Raise yourself on you toes.
   C. Lower yourself.
   D. Repeat procedure 10-30 times a day.

3. For ankle pain:
   A. While sitting, rotate your feet in a clockwise direction. Reverse the direction.
   B. Do several times a day.

YOU CAN BE YOUR OWN FOOT DOCTOR. EXAMINE YOUR FEET DAILY.

If you notice cracks between the toes; blisters, cuts or sores; any signs of infection such as areas or redness or discoloration, swelling or pus; report it immediately to your physician or call our office and ask for the Foot Clinic. This should be done even if you have no pain.

CAR SEAT PROGRAM

Waushara County has Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians that can help ensure your child's safety in your vehicle. Technicians will help parents and caregivers to properly install and keep a child safety seat in a vehicle.

If needed, safety seats are available to purchase at reduced prices. Car seats are available to rent on a short-term basis also.

Click here to see our 4 steps for kids and car seats (requires Adobe Reader).

Installing your car seat:
   1. Read your car seat instructions and your vehicle owner's manual. Check to see if a locking clip is needed to secure your car seat. Each model is slightly different.

   2. Get a tight fit; the seat should not move more than one inch.

   3. Never put an infant in the front seat in the rear-facing position in a vehicle with an air bag.

   4. The back seat is the safest place for any child safety seat.

   5. Replace any car seat that has been involved in an accident.

For more information about the car seat program or to make an appointment for a free inspection call 920-787-6590.
