Bike the Bannerman
For many years, the Bannerman trail has been an excellent off road location to walk and horseback ride, but what about biking? Individuals may have previously found it difficult to bike on sections of the Bannerman because of sandy portions or rough conditions.
The Waushara County Health Department and the Waushara County Wellness Coalition; through the assistance of the CHANGE grant, have partnered with the Parks Department and Highway Department to make improvements to the trail. The sand portions of the trail were dug out and gravel was put down in its place. A roller was used on the entire length of the trail to smooth out any rough areas.
With these improvements made, the Bannerman Trail is now a great place to walk AND bike!
To help us celebrate these improvements, please join us for:
Bike the Bannerman
Saturday, July 18 at 9AM
Highway 73 entrance, 7 miles south of Wautoma
If you are unsure of where the Bannerman Trail is, it runs for 7 miles from Highway 21 in Redgranite to Highway 73 just a few miles north of Neshkoro. We will meet at the Highway 73 entrance, 7 miles south of Wautoma, and bike the trail to Redgranite, stop for a rest and to rehydrate, and then return on the trail to Highway 73.
If you would like to participate in the event, but do not wish to bike the entire 14 miles, please feel free to begin the bike ride with us and turn around at any point.
